I love photo restoration for a number of reasons. Firstly, there is the challenge. It stretches me to go beyond what I already am capable of and I like that. It is also extremely rewarding to help folks to have better photographic images of loved ones as I am most often restoring images of grandmothers and grandfathers, mothers and fathers.

Images often have damage that is age related, but also from not receiving the best of care. I have worked on water damaged photos as well. The worst case scenario is when the photos are so damaged that restoration is impossible. Most times, this is not the case, but as you can see in the images below, sometimes the damage is severe.

The only way to know if restoration is possible is by actually viewing the image. At that time I will be able to tell. Sometimes, it will be a case of just 'making it better'. In this instance the decision to make (or not make) the attempt will rest solely with the client. Whatever the decision, please rest assured that I always will give it the utmost effort.

There are also options of placing a background 'scene' in the image. As you will see below, I have used the image above and done exactly that. This image was created strictly for web use, but this technique can be utilized in images for printing as well.
